THE STORY

A "Superiore" heritage

Bisol: one family name,
many generations

Five centuries of history and 21 generations of a family and its love for the land and the wine that it yields.

The beginning

There are sources dating from as early as the 16th century attesting to the Bisol family’s presence in the heart of the historic Prosecco country, specifically the territory known as “Chartice” (the present-day “Cartizze” hillside).

Eliseo Bisol

Only the brutality of the First World War managed, temporarily, to interrupt the modest, but successful, business started by Eliseo Bisol at the beginning of the century.

The Valdobbiadene territory lay right on the battle lines between the Austrian-Hungarian forces and their Italian opponents. Despite this setback, thanks to the work of Eliseo’s son, Desiderio, the centuries-old family tradition of winegrowing was back in the best of health come the middle of the 1920s.

Desiderio
"Jeio" Bisol

In the years following the Second World War, Desiderio – whose wife had affectionately nicknamed him “Jeio” – travelled the Valdobbiadene and Conegliano hills on his red Moto Guzzi motorbike, searching for the best plots of land to purchase. His dream: to create wine that captured the diverse, yet complimentary qualities of these unique terroirs.

Jeio gave each of his children a different role in the business, each according to their educational background: Antonio deals with the administration, while Eliseo is responsible for the winemaking, and Aurelio for the vineyards themselves. Claudio oversees the general running of the business.

“My grandfather Desiderio and my father Antonio were always on the lookout for the best plots to purchase. Those were the steepest ones, and as such the hardest to cultivate, but their gradient and soil composition made them perfect for growing Glera grapes. It shows how long-sighted they were, and how important the quality of the final product was for them”.
